Wirral IFB – Auto Expo – 12th June 2014‏

Hello Club Members,

A few of you will already know, that I was ‘invited’ by some friends within the Council (yes, I do have some!), to advise on a planned ‘motor’ event that is taking place on Thursday 12th June, at the former Mobil Oil site, on Birkenhead docks.

The day is part of the Wirral International Federation of Business events, that will be taking place throughout the summer.  The whole docklands area in Birkenhead and Wallasey is planned for redevelopment, with some very grand schemes, and it is all owned by ‘Peel Holdings’ – not the Council.

The Mobile Oil site, at the end of Beaufort Road / Wallasey Bridge Road, is closed and currently being demolished.  The plan is for a new ‘international automotive parts and distribution centre’ to be constructed here, and the chaps at Peel Holdings have got in contact with James Hall, the chief organiser of Cholmondeley Pageant of Power (CPoP), to promote the venture with a ‘World Cup’ type theme, as CPoP is the next day from 13th to 15th June.

We have been offered a exhibition space for 1-2 cars, which would enable us to promote the Prom Rally.  I have been in contact with Paul Evans, and he could possibly bring his car to display, so 1 other ‘good’ rally car would be required.  The Council would like us to provide some marshals to assist on the site, but it won’t be for car parking duties – others will be doing that!

I know it is very short notice, but if you can offer your services to help on the day please contact me. If we could get say 6 of us to sort out a display area and give a helping hand – you never know what may develop from there!  Our ‘display stand’ will be next to the vehicles going to CPoP in the main public area.
