WMC Win Ian Harwood Quiz

WMC Bring home the Ian Harwood Quiz Trophy – by Bill Turner
It is the time of the year again for the Ian Harwood motoring quiz which is traditionally held at the club house of the previous year’s winners.
So on Monday evening 28/11/11 a small contingent of Wallasey members set out for the Cricket Club in Knutsford to meet up with teams from Knutsford and District MC who put out 3 teams, Warrington MC, Stockport 061, Lancs and Cheshire MC and all of whom fielded 2 teams plus
WMC who had Gary Marriott, Mike Harris, Tony King and Steve Noble forming our “A” team and Graham Williams, Jerry Lucas and yours truly, Bill Turner forming our “B-“ team (only 3members, get it).
The quiz started with 4 rounds of questions (General Knowledge, rallying, racing and a photo round to name famous name in the sport) followed by a “supper” break comprising of some not very nice cheese and meat pasties’ with red cabbage and sauce to taste.
After the break the 3 highest scoring teams, Wallasey A, Knutsford C and Lancs Cheshire B, competed in another 2 rounds of questions on General Knowledge and Motorsport from which the top 2 teams, Wallasey A and Knutsford C who were tied on their scores and duly went through to
the final knocking Lancs & Chesh B out.
There were then a further 2 rounds of questions again on General knowledge and Motorsport from which Wallasey A emerged the winners by 21/2 points which means WMC have won back a trophy which we rightly regard as our property but which we last held in 2005.
We now have to host the quiz next year and defend the title so some everybody start swatting up now!!
