SPECTATOR SAFETY

Watching a live motor sport event is a thrilling experience and one of the best ways for motorsport fans to get close to the action, experiencing the sport’s sights, sounds and smells first-hand.
The event organisers strive to keep spectators safe but ultimately all spectators are responsible for their own personal safety.

Please have a look at this spectator safety video which demonstrates why the organisers ensure that designates spectator areas are provided.

So, if you come to watch this year’s Promenade Stages Rally, PLEASE:

  • Always keep your own safety in mind
  • Park in a designated car park and always follow marshals’ instructions
  • Observe and obey all event signs
  • Stay within the official spectator areas
  • Do not enter any prohibited areas
  • Keep off the road or track
  • Listen to official announcements
  • Leave the drone at home
  • Expect the unexpected

Remember too – if you visit the Service Area this is also a potentially dangerous environment with movement of rally cars and hazardous materials being used. Please note that this is a No Smoking area. Please be vigilant and be aware of your surroundings and in particular keep children under close supervision.

Stage Layout
King’s Parade at New Brighton is a public road open all year round with the exception of when the venue is in use for special events. The road surface is therefore typical of what you drive on day to day – real tarmacadam !The road system around the Promenade is varied, with the width of road ranging from single carriageway to dual carriageway width, natural corners include fast and open bends to hairpins and tight hairpins. Throw in seven roundabouts, which are used on the rally in many different ways and a couple of chicanes and it all adds up to a real challenge.

Stage length ranges from 3.5 miles for the shorter stages to 4.5 miles for the majority of stages.
